I am – and I’m 35 – have been “officially” for a year now.
I forgot the study of the test I had to get, but I had it done a couple times, you have to get up real primeval in the morning to have blood drawn because the level of some hormone is the highest then…

My periods were getting closer together (my cycle is 21 days now) I haven’t noticed too much else….The PMS and cramps also got worse for me, and I get more frequent yeast infections (woo woo). I take Calcium for the PMS and cramps – it helps

Pre-menopausal means before menopause- you’ve been pre-menopausal since your first period, dear. If you mean what happens in the period right before the onset of menopause, or at the beginning- yes, you are in the age for that to start, and the symptoms are simply changes in the old pattern of things. You could get heavier or lighter periods from month to month, and skip occassionaly for no apparent reason. You might notice a few stray hairs where you’d rather not have them. It is a little early for actual menopause, but your gyn can sort that out with a blood test. They usually don’t do a lot of treatment though- hormone replacement therapy is risky, and increases the chance of cancers. If you think you have a problem, the best place to start looking into things is with your gynecologist. Might be something, might be nothing- and menopause is a natural process of the body after all. Even at 39, a bit early- but not the end of the world. Just the end of periods, and that’s adaptable with the right mind set.

I see two good answers but I’m adding a website with extra info.

Look at it as an intro to the better half of life. It takes getting used to a bit but there is DEFINITELY life after menopause–a very good life in fact.
